“Casa Sotto la Roccia” Project

Introduction
Along the mountain trail connecting Chasuwatar to Pawakhola stands an isolated house, built beneath a large rock. Two people live there. When the valley’s hydroelectric projects brought light to the neighboring villages, this house was too far from either grid to be connected.

During the visit for the inauguration of the Pawakhola project, the Seed of Light team passed by that house. The owners came out and asked if something could be done for them too.

Execution
The chosen solution was a standalone solar system: two 40 W panels, a battery, indoor wiring, lamps, and outlets. Enough to light the house and charge a phone. The installation was handled by Hydro Steels Company, with engineer Bahadur Singh Limbu, already active in the valley.

Impact
Two people. One house. CHF 442. Light after sunset and the ability to charge a phone — things that had never been a given for this couple. The project is small, but it closes a specific gap: no household in Seed of Light’s area of activity has been left without access to basic energy.
